Cadillac Series 62
The General Motors Corporation was required to respond to the growing spoilers (in the form of fins) in cars of the 1950s produced by Chrysler, and so GM invited the famous designer Harley Earl to apply their ideas to a new Cadillac model, called Series 62. Earl drew inspiration and ideas from the aviation industry, which is shown in the model he created. At the rear there were great “Dorsal ridges,” the greatest of all who ever appeared on any car, he defended his idea and made a kind of tail portion of the projectile at the time, as the front grille looked like a reflection of each other, with four “machine-gun barrels”, whereas the two headlights automatically turned on at dusk and switched from bright to dim glow, if they determined other vehicles approaching. The model was equipped with spring suspension and telescopic shock absorbers, while the best models could be ordered with an air bag. The car used a cast iron engine of large volume, which has been increased for the 1959 model and was sold in two stages of adjustment, either the version with power of 242 kW with one carburetor, or the 257 kW option with three carburetors.
