Toyota is one hell of car, we all know that but do we know much about 1988 MR2? 1988 MR2 is one of the best sports cars from the ‘80s.

The first Toyota MR2 went into production in 1984, the same year when Toyota won the Car of the year award in Japan. From 1984 to 1988 they made several really awesome changes and perfections as much as they could. First It had an option for three engines, all being inline four cylinder components. The first was an 83 hp with 1.5 liter, not much of an engine but enough for the first. The second was a 1.6 liter with 112 hp that was much more effective than the first one and a little later they attached a supercharger to it, to make up to 145 hp.

In 1986 MR2 got a T-bar roof only in Japan along with a better keyed bumpers, revised transmission, side skirts and side strips. In 1987 the T-bar roof was finally available for the US and Europe, that made many car lovers happy. They achieved to make some visual improvements and they managed to work on the breaks so they can be much more effective. In 1988 the final changes were made.

The blazing third brake lamp got replaced by an LED strip mixed into rear spoiler, and the supercharger finally got available in North America. Here is one amazing video with this hot ride! Enjoy the view 🙂
