The Orange Crush Mega truck kills it! Literally kills it, just watch the impressive performance in this recorded compilation from Hale play bog, Perkins bog, Michigan Mud Jam and Mcnasty off-road.
What we can add, monster mega truck handled by an experienced driver, and he is rocking baby, good for the eyes and also good for the ears. We are sorry we can’t provide you with interesting details about the performance of the recorded truck but we will compensate with “How to…” story, just keep it reading…
We won’t let you sink in the mud, so we’ve decided to share a secret how to transform your truck into a mud bogger.
We’ll start with the wheels, tires and the proper air pressure. If your truck is powerful enough the right match is set of Interco Super Swampers or Boggers, thrust us, these will move more mud than any other dot tire. It doesn’t matter which set you are going to choose, the key is to use the widest size with low pressure inside, so we made a deal, forget the skinny one. For the wheels we let you to choose on your own, of course the lighter the better.
Next let pay attention to the axles, differential and suspension. Here it’s easy, the best axles are those which won’t break when you torture them in the mud. 10-bolt, Dana 44, IFS or Ford TTB axles are all good choices for front axles, for rear, full-float eight-lug axles are all good. It is very important the axles give spin power to the tires without sweating the engine too much and that can be accomplished if the axles are equipped with more gears.
In the body and interior part we’ll mention one important thing, mudding trucks shouldn’t be so heavy, less weight is better, just the weight needs to be concentrate more on the middle to the rear part of the truck, and for the interior we let on you.
We will speak about the engine, the transmission and the transfer case in this section. You’ll need a lot of power! Small V8s are out of the game, too much torture for them. The bigger ones can handle it! The philosophy is to have gear reduction to prevent the engine from bogging down in the mud. It will work with diesel power engines, don’t underestimate them but always keep on mind the weight of the engine! You might want to experiment with manual transmission on the mud but the automatic has advantages. About the transfer case, don’t go too far 4:1 or more, you won’t have the desired wheel speed. And the last and very important advice, install ventilation tubes to the highest vehicle point where it’s needed.
