The founder of the FreeValve subsidiary, Christian von Koenigsegg, has done it again. He released a video with the details about his newest invention, it is the engine without the camshaft. This engine is so advanced that it has very high fuel efficiency, and all that without the need of the camshaft.

How did he get the idea of creating this one of a kind of engine is unknown, but innovations and new creations are always welcome in the car engines industry. The engines that are used today are the conventional ones with the camshaft in the place, doing its job.

Now Christian von Koenigsegg has found a substitute for the camshaft and it seems like he will retire it real soon after making this innovation. He is intending to use electromagnetic force to open and close the valves on the head of the engine, without the need of the camshaft.

This will reduce the moving parts in the engine, will make it a little less complicated than it is now, but it will make this technology engines very expensive too. The other substitutes for the camshaft is the hydraulic or pneumatic movement, which will move the valves up and down.
