“Eleanor” from “Gone in 60 Seconds,” sold for a million dollars

On Saturday in May 18, 2013, the coupe 1967 Ford Mustang , which “played” the role of the car nicknamed “Eleanor” in the movie “Gone in 60 Seconds,” starring Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie in the lead roles, was sold at the auction of the American auction house Mecum for one million dollars.

The copy offered for auction remains the only machine in working condition, driven by Nicolas Cage. This car was used for close-up shots, appeared in a promotional video, posters, and was involved in a promotion for the film.

Eleanor is proposed, together with a certificate confirming the authenticity of the car, as well as with a special commemorative plaque, on which, inter alia, was engraved VIN – the number of the car.

This is she, Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Eleanor – the legendary car from the movie “Gone in 60 Seconds.” It remains to be added that Eleanor, has a host of followers, some garages even offer to assemble such a machine to order. This pleasure would cost approximately 125,000 U.S. dollars. Currently some restaurateurs perform modification of the classic Mustang GT500 to literally transform it into “Eleanor”.

For millions of people around the world, the 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor has become the benchmark of automotive art.  It set the tone for a whole generation of vehicles!
