Wonders Of Truck Engineering: Starting A 1978 Peterbilt 359 After 8 Years Of Deep Slumber!

The big rig back in the days, when the Kenworth was not even in the race. One of those trucks which marked the truck history in the USA with their durability and endurance. But is it possible to start this big rig after 8 years of complete resting, yeah, nothing touched or started on him?

Let’s find out, but first see what this truck hiding under the long hood is. Under it is suited the Caterpillar Diesel 3048 turbocharged engine which according to BoatDiesel is a V8 monster. Yeah, can we feed this huge displacement of 16.0-liter with the right juice to make the engine scream again in full light? Who knows, the ultimate test would be to see what will happen.

It is worth to mention that the 1978 Peterbilt 359 with his 470HP can pass two years or 16,000 operating hours with no major difficulties. Yeah, can you imagine that two years non-stop working hard?

But this rig, forgotten in the forest, maybe grass has grown on the seats and trees are stuck in the exhaust pipe…  But watch the video and tell us what you think.
