2000 Toyota Tundra
The history of Toyota Tundra has its origins in the distant 1999, when on the assembly line went down the first model of the full-size pickup Toyota Tundra. It was announced as one of the models of the following 2000 model year. The first generation Toyota Tundra is often compared with its predecessor Toyota T100.
It is an interesting fact that in 1999 Toyota Tundra was introduced to the world as Toyota T150s, which triggered a judicial conflict with Ford. The indictment alleged that the name of the new Toyota models in tune with the Ford F-150, which is a vehicle of Ford’s lineup. According to the court the Toyota T150s was renamed to Toyota Tundra.
Since the beginning of 2000 and for 2005, there have been two variations of the Toyota Tundra. The first variation was equipped with 24-valve V6 engine, calculated on 3.4 liters of fuel, the torque of which is equal to 298 Nm, and power to 190 hp. The second variation was variable and used the 32-valve V8 engine with volume of 4.7 liters, power of 245 hp and a torque of 427 Nm.
The 2000 Toyota Tundra with V8 engine went on sale in June 1999 and it was the best debut sales in the history of any of Toyota or Lexus in the USA. It sold 8011 units in its first full month of sales, which is more than the 3339 units of the Toyota Tercel in October 1979, the previous record holder.
