Wheel cylinder replacement can be an expensive choir at the garage mechanics and it would be so cool if you knew how to change it on your own.
That’s why in this video by Chris Fix we have the tutorial and hands on, how to change or replace the wheel cylinder on an older vehicle with the drum brakes. You will need to spray some degreaser on the bolts the day before, so it will be much easier to take them off.
If you don’t follow this step and spray the degreaser one day ahead of the replacing, you will face difficulties with taking the bolts out. Then you need to unbolt the brake line that is leading straight to the cylinder, pop the cylinder out and then mount the new one inside.
This is one dirty job to be done, so make sure that you have a bucket for the dripping brake fluid so that it will not get everywhere around you and make a mess. After fitting the new cylinder and everything is in place, the bleeder screw is the last thing to tune, it will release the air from the brake lines and will allow the fluid to fill all the gaps.
