Alpina introduces Alpina XD3. Although BMW specializes in performance diesel engines, the XD3 is its first such SUV. The XD3 is based on the BMW X3. However, Alpina contributed to this SUV`s performance greatly. Judging by the previous fine-tuning this company has adjusted on the coupes and saloons, the XD3 is a total success. The XD3 can be purchased by few BMW dealers. The starting price for this vehicle is minimum £54,950 – that’s £11,000 more than the Audi SQ5.
Primarily, this BMW is based on the X3 xDrive35d M Sport. It rides 5mm lower than the basic BMW. An Alpina-branded chin spoiler has been set up front. A body colored panel is replacing the black section of the rear bumper. 20-inch wheels are standard in Alpina’s classic design. However, the gallery we posted for you has a XD3 with optional 21-inch wheels in the same style.
There is a 3.0-litre straight-six engine delivering up to 345bhp, which is 36 bhp more than the standard model car. Moreover, there is a new stainless steel exhaust system. Alpina added a checked eight-speed gearbox from ZF and inserted button shifters to the back of the steering wheel.
Alpina collaborates with BMW in terms of reliability, which is not the usual case with tuners and car manufacturers. This means that all Alpinas can be purchased at any BMW main dealer. Plus, the brand gives a two-year manufacturer warranty. Third-year extension is not possible.
The X3 is originally produced in the US; however, there is a shipping to Alpina`s factory in Germany. Here, the vehicles are rebuilt from the ground up.
There have been some changes performed when it comes to dimensions. The 550-litre capacity has been increased to maximum 1,600 litres. The back seats are wider. Thus, they provide greater comfort.
The XD3 keeps most of BMW’s EfficientDynamics technologies.
Due to tax the vehicle is priced £54,950. However, the standard kit is equipped with leather seats, dynamic stability control, and adaptive cruise control.
