Sesto Elemento
Lamborghini Sesto Elemento (literally translated from Italian -- “The Sixth Element”) was built on the Gallardo chassis model. The car’s name refers to the 6th element of the periodic table -- carbon, since carbon fibers were used to make the car’s chassis, driveshaft and suspension components. The first sample was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2010.
Through the use of CFRP the car’s weight was reduced to 999 kg, making it the lightest car in the company’s history. The body of the car is made of carbon fiber mixed with plastic based on the newest technology developed jointly with Boeing. The vehicle’s specific power is 562 hp. According to a statement from Lamborghini, the acceleration at 0-100 km/h takes less than 2.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 320 km/h. The engine and the transmission were taken from the Gallardo Superleggera. On the hood there are two inlets, through which air flows to the engine, and the ten funnels, through which the hot air goes out from the engine.
