Years of production: 1998 – 2003
E39 M5 was introduced in 1998 at the Geneva Motor Show. Unlike its predecessors, E39 M5 was assembled not by hand, but on a normal production line at the plant in Dingolfing, Germany. It was powered by 400 hp engine.
