Ford finally made up its mind to turbocharge a drag racing Mustang,. We are talking about a factory-built 2012 Cobra Jet Twin-Turbo Concept. Its 5.0-liter V8 engine has two Borg Warner EFR turbo. The initial 1968 Cobra had a 7.0-liter V8 engine under its hood.

Ford turbocharger design engineer Dave Born said: “To overcome the biggest perceived drawback of turbocharging – the lag – we’ve selected the smallest possible turbos that will give us the airflow we need. We’ve also got some other enhancements to help improve the responsiveness; we have very low inertia and very low internal friction.”

By far, this Cobra Jet is the only concept offered by Ford.
