Once the first Corvette prototype was presented at the General Motors Motorama at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. It turns out this model was inspiring enough to launch three new concept cars.
The next year (1954) at the Waldorf, the Vette, Corvair, and Nomad debuted. The Vette is characterized as a more esthetical version of the Corvette; the Corvair as the faster Corvette, whereas the Waldorf Nomad did not have any descriptions besides being an internal Ford “joke”. However, exactly this Nomad attracted the customers mostly.
This model is Bel-Airs-style inspired laid on the standard 115” `53 chassis.
During the `56 the Nomad went through a face-lift containing the folowing tidbits: round pod taillights, a full-width grille, elliptical rear wheel openings, and L-shaped side trim.
The tri-five Nomads today are extremely rare and highly priced.
