Diesel engine runaway is a freelance operation of internal combustion engine (mainly diesel), in which there is an uncontrolled increase in speed above the allowable. Also, additional result of this is a lot of noise and smoke at the back of the vehicle.

If you do not take any action, the engine becomes unusable for one of these reasons:

• Fire in the exhaust manifold;
• Overheating and engine seizure;
• Disruption of the engine as a result of increased mechanical load.

To stop the engine from running you must urgently cut off the fuel and engine load. If this does not work, you need to shut off the air supply.

Here we have a brand new 2015 GMC Duramax truck with less than 4,000 miles. Unfortunately for the owner, the truck faced a major diesel engine runaway which resulted in complete self-destruction. Too bad for a brand new truck 🙁 I hope this won’t happen to you.
