Tug of war with rope, always amazing for watching and full with adrenaline while two powerful Powerstrokes are fighting for pride and glory, linked back to back. While most of the tug of war events are battles between rivals like Powerstroke vs. Cummins or Cummins vs. Duramax in our story we have 6.4 Powerstroke vs. 7.3 Powerstroke!

On first sight it seems like the 6.4 Powerstroke doesn’t have the chances to stand against his bigger brother 7.3 Powerstroke but how the events will evolve you will be surprised. But before let’s examine their performance levels. The 6.4-liter V8 Powerstroke packs 350HP and 650lb-ft of torque, enough power to stand as scary opponent in the battle. The 7.3-liter V8 delivers 275HP and 525lb-ft of torque (performance on the last 7.3 Powerstroke engine in 2003). One question arises here, is the displacement the key factor which will decide which one of these brothers will raise the throne?

Once was said there is no replacement for displacement but we’ve seen that the technology in the past decade evolved to unimaginable level and 350HP pumped from smaller V8 engine are still more and stronger than 275HP, the same applies for the torque.

In the first round in our tug of war won the older brother which was looking as a poor opponent and significantly smaller than the 6.4 Powerstroke. Maybe the experience did its job while applying some proven techniques. The second round, besides its jumping technique the 7.3 Powerstroke didn’t manage to pull his little brother behind his winning line and finish the battle as total K.O!
