REMOVING A PILOT BEARING From A Ford 302 Is So Easy When Using A PIECE OF BREAD!!! It’s Actually A PRETTY SMART IDEA!

When a car owner is out in his garage, sometimes, the processes while working on a car are simply not as efficient as they appear to be. So every now and then everybody just needs to make up their own sweet little car hacks. In this case, your mission will be to remove the pilot bearing from the back of a Ford 302 engine. However, instead of the usual method with pumping grease in, this time you will use a little more creativity. We call this lesson of the day: “removing a pilot bearing with a piece of bread”. This trick will make the job much easier and a lot cleaner, while saving you some time as well. What you need for the application of this car hack is a tight-fitting rod and a simple slice of bread.

Using the tight-fitting rod and the piece of bread, you are going to make some sort of a hydraulic ram to get behind the bearing and force it out of its place. Once the bearing is out it will be a whole lot easier to clean up.

Usually pressing out the bearing is a quite a messy job to do, because of all the grease gets that you need to pump into the hole in order to act as a hydraulic ram and press the bearing out. Well, it appears that a piece of bread can also serve the purpose, pressing the bearing out.  What you need to pay extra attention while doing this is to make sure the rod is a very good fit, or the bread will squeeze out and it won’t work to press the pilot bearing out.

According to the uploader of the video, this amazing technique is effective on most engines. This is one really cool trick that enables you much easier clean up in comparison to pumping the greasy cavity. Besides, it leaves the inside of the pilot bearing all clean. Be sure to be careful when you do try this. The attempt is at your own risk.

Check out the video below that shows the amazing little trick and tell us what you think of it.
