The designer Maxime de Keiser has made this very interesting modern interpretation of the historic De Tomaso Mangusta 1965, originally designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and built until 1971 in just 401 units, of which only less than 170 are marching today. The original model, up just 1.1 meters, was characterized by the engine hood made of two sections with opening gullwing. De Keiser’s project was labeled De Tomaso Mangusta Legacy Concept, and we have to admit guys, it looks stunning!
With his “Legacy Concept”, de Keiser wanted to reinterpret in a modern way the stylistic elements to hinge of the original version, also providing it with today’s technology and styling cues. The designer has in fact stated that “his” Mongoose “like the original, would have to be spectacular and communicate a feeling of savage ferocity and strength, while recalling the serenity of a feline at rest and the elegance of an animal that does not need to scare anyone.”
In the 1960s, everyone was dreaming about supercars and, of course, many large and small auto manufacturers created or attempted to create their own models. Some companies, such as Italian Lamborghini and the Ferrari, made their name on it, working great on them to this day, and someone went even further outline. Therefore, the project Mangusta Legacy Concept by Maxime de Keiser will be interesting to all fans of supercars from the ‘60s. The designer’s work on his project was inspired by the not widely used machines, such as, De Tomaso Mangusta. This model became the basis for the concept. Most of motorists probably heard the name of De Tomas. However, when comparing the awareness and popularity of this supercar and supercars produced by Ferrari or Lamborghini, the share with the brainchild of De Tomaso will be very small. However, the model has served as an excellent base for the creation of a modern car, which combines the unique style of the past and advanced design ideas of our age.
