We all want to see the Red Bull team winning at the F1 championship and we all like the sound of the F1 engine that we hear all the time. But what is under that small body of the F1 car and how does this engine work? What makes this engine so powerful except for the large number of cylinders and the special fuel that this engine uses? These are the questions that are going to be answered here and it will get even better, explained the transmission of the F1 car too, how it is doing its perfect job and how it doesn’t skip a gear not once in a race.

The F1 engine is like the normal one in your car, piston engine with the same fuel pump but much better and much more wasting fuel, and there are some changes on the combustion only. The most common F1 car would have the four cylinder V8 style engine at 90 degrees position. Same like the Ford F-350 right? But this is where the things get interesting with the F1 engine.

Now the number of 18 000 RPMs is unbelievable for the normal engine but this one gets it. It needs to get it as the acceleration time is the most important in the F1 racing competition. The four stroke cycle of the F1 cars and engines is much different than the normal Cummins engine. The pistons doesn’t have to travel that much up and down in their casing and that’s why they reach this kind of number in the RPMs.

The drivers of the F1 cars are the ones that understand this process the best but we need to understand it too so the watching of the race will be even sweater, with the knowledge about the F1 engine and how it works too.
