We all know that drag cars are mighty beasts counting even few thousands of horsepower under the hood! That is so much power enough to leave the ground and fly! The jet airplanes don’t even have that power when they take off on the runaway.
We are also used to watch how these drag beasts perform wheelies and some of them even running through the track only on the rear wheels. Yeah, and everything is fine when everything is well-balanced!
Honestly it starts good, the twin turbo Chevy Camaro makes a solid warm up and finally stands of the start line. And everything was fine at the South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, Georgia, until it passed few hundred meters when it couldn’t control the wheelie anymore and almost turned on its back, only a tiny part of the second separated the driver from catastrophic accident.
This is a lesson for the team, thank God that the accident passed without big difficulties for the driver, and that means for the next race they need to control the acceleration or put some supporting system on the back of the car which won’t allow this to happen again.
