It may not seem so at a first glance, but R 34 and R 35 are two totally different kind of vehicles. The moment when R 35 was deprived of its Skyline badge and filled up with (unnecessary) complicated electronic gadgets and chain driven camshafts, it became completely different car. One mark with whom any car enthusiast was able to distinguish the R 34 GT – R was the furious sound that only a force fed, cast iron inline V6 engine could have produced. It was a symbol of the Sun Line Racing in Okayama, Japan and the way of thinking of affordable and extremely capable machine that does not need high maintenance or something similar. This doesn’t mean that every car that has been under Sun Line treatment is a potential champion, instead a sure blood red color which is a sort of “blanket” of the company’s tuning workmanship. An exception was made with the recently made full dry carbon R34 which stays as a trademark to all the other tuned vehicles to keep away as far as possible.
