If you are the owner of a high petrol consumption car, and you are spending too much money on petrol, maybe we have found the right car for you, and it is here at the Geneva Motor Show. Right in front of us Volkswagen has revealed its solution for the future, it is the most fuel-efficient car in the world, and they named it the VW XL1.
What makes this car the best in world when it comes to fuel efficiency? It is the combination of one diesel engine and one electric engine which makes this car a hybrid and it is not a bad thing. It will give you a great mileage for your money, about 313 miles per gallon.
The diesel engine is a TDI which has two cylinders common rail style producing total of 48 PS. This diesel engine is directly linked to an electric engine which is producing 27 PS making it total of 75 PS. You would think it is not enough to power this car, but with weight of only 795 kg this car is light as a feather and the two engine combination is working very well. Accelerating for 0 to 62 mph is done at 11.9 seconds and is actually really good for cars of this caliber. See the car on the video bellow.
