All the car diffusers in the world will not change an army tank to the Ford Mustang, but at least they are doing the best they can to make it more aerodynamic. Well that is what they are all about, making a vehicle aerodynamic and increasing the down force of the vehicle. If a race car doesn’t have the diffusers on it then it is doomed to be flipped over from all the air resistance that is coming from the speed that the car travels. This is what the diffuser is going to do, it is going to take that air flow and change the path of it, increasing the downforce on the car and keep it low on the ground, without the risk of being airborne. This is the gain that the sports and race cars have from the diffuser and the engineers know this stuff already. But for us the mortals, it had to be explained and the host from Engineering Explained thought that this will be the best way of doing it. Creating a lot of downforce for the race car without creating a lot of drag force is the main goal of the engineers at the race car garages. They have been trying to improve the design of the diffuser for years now and they have really done a progress there. That’s why the cars are able to reach higher speeds with the same engine, there is smaller air resistance and less drag as well.

Cutting through the air would be the main goal and the drag force can say goodbye to the body of the car as there will be the best diffusers mounted on it.
