At their stop in Nashville phenomenal YouTube user 1320video witnessed a one-of-a-kind street race of a Corvette Z06 vs. a Mazda MX-5 Miata.

The Heads/Cam Corvette Z06 has 600 horsepower thanks to some adjustments and that should normally be enough for this Mazda MX-5 Miata to be left very far behind the Z06. But we would not post this video of course, if that was so.

The result is in fact very different, this Mazda flies over the highway and surprised everyone present at the street race. Upon returning to the parking lot the crew found out why this wolf in sheep’s clothing is so fast. Under the hood of the Miata resides a 5.3-liter V8 with approximately 700 hp that was fed by a rear-mounted 78mm turbo with a 4L80 transmission.

These cars are called sleepers. Their exterior doesn’t reveal the fact that under the hood hides a huge herd of horses.

The narrow 225mm rear Bridgestone tires can barely 600 horsepower and finding traction as the boost pressure is built once. The beauty of this sleeper is that the car is used for daily commuting, yet genius!

The Vette owner was probably shocked 🙂
