The American manufacturer started testing a new generation of the most powerful Mustang – so believe the brand experts, although Ford has not announced their intentions. Hidden away in a camouflage test this 2018 Mustang GT500 was recently caught in the lenses of stubborn pictures – hunters.

This new prototype of the iconic Shelby Mustang was spotted during some tests near a Ford development center. If the car really was the 2018 Mustang GT500, it would not rule out a Twin Turbo V8 engine with about 800 hp. The letters “CT-0081” on the windshield of the test mule seen by spies may indicate the use of biturbo engine, whose power can reach 800 horsepower. And according to rumors, the new Shelby GT500 generation is predicting a 800 horsepower V8 engine with volume of approximately 5 liters.

Leafing through the video you can see the first shots of what appears to be the new 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The car, heavily disguised, has a number of details that make it the most impressive of the GT350 and GT350R sisters, although the distinctive features remain similar. In this case we can see wider air intakes and a projecting hood, in addition to high performance Brembo brakes.

The tail light is not changed, thus remaining among the hallmarks of the iconic series of the now branded Ford. The sport-lines are then accentuated by the two dual tailpipes and the coupe line, weighed down by the camouflaged front.

The GT350 succeeds in developing 526hp thanks to a 5.2 liter V8 that could also have been adapted to this 2018 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500. In this case, however, it is possible that the engine has been adjusted in order to achieve a power of -if not downright 800- 700 horses.

A similar power may be achieved through the use of a turbine to cylinder bank, going to so form a Twin Turbo from at least exceptional performance. The possibility that things have actually gone this way is accredited by persistent rumors that the Shelby GT 500 will soon return with an engine of this type. We just have to wait for the next winter salons.
