LESSON LEARNED: Never Try To Squeeze By A Semi-Truck On Curvy Road! BE SURE TO WATCH THIS ONE…

Let this video raise the awareness on all participants in the traffic, because driving a vehicle is a responsible thing and you need to be aware of your safety and the safety of others. If both sides involved in the traffic are not paying enough attention on the road then many things can go wrong.

Just watch the video bellow, tight forest road, only two lanes which means you need to drive very carefully and slow. Also because you might meet a semi-truck from the opposite lane at some turn which covers both lanes!

And what now? If you drive slowly you will stop on time and leave enough space for the truck to pass you. If you drive fast you will hit into the trailer’s tires, a hit which can be fatal! Or you might try to squeeze in, but that’s a deadly thing also! Watch what happened to this Cruiser on the video who hit the “tail of the dragon”. Yeah, he literally went under the trailer’s tires! Very bad situation. Thanks to YouTube user killboydotcom we have this footage which can teach us a lot.

That’s why we recommend you to learn from other people’s mistakes, it might be too late to learn from yours! Also pull over if you see that someone had an accident, maybe you can save his life!

Watch the video bellow to see what happened!

Actually, the semi-truck was in the wrong, he was fined, fired and lost his CDL.

You’re right indeed David. Thanks for the information.

The truck was in the wrong. He shouldn’t have been the road in the first place. I drive for a living if I don’t know the route my GPS is taking me I look it up on my trucker atlas. It might be extra money but it still cheaper than paying a fine.

Trucks over 40′ are banned from the tail of the dragon for this very reason. North Carolina and Tennessee need to do a better job policing this stretch of road.

    1. Mac ( Post author )

I fully agree with you Bob. Those states should definitely do that.

  3. harold

us 129 is not a place fpr a big truck

    1. Mac ( Post author )

What does this mean: “…if you drive fast you will heat in the trailer tire…”?

    1. Mac ( Post author )

It’s just a small typo in the text. We fixed it now. The correct sentence is: “… if you drive fast you will hit into the trailer’s tires…”

i still think the biker is an idiot. most of them think they own the roads and are invincible. its a curvy road….NO REASON he shouldnt have been able to stop before he saw that huge truck!

    1. Mac ( Post author )

Well we all need to be very careful and aware on the road Dan. We all have responsibility.

    2. Gaz

yea how fast were those bikes going. ????

The grammar in this article is terrible. Good video though, looks like Deals Gap in North Carolina.

Thank you for the notice Eric. We made all the corrections necessary in the article. Glad you like the video.

Yes, on the road drivers have ultimate responsibility of what they are driving, be it a truck, car, M/C (Harley or otherwise); etc.

The state of Tennessee is following the lead of North Carolina in banning commercial vehicles (longer than 30 feet) on US 129, parts of which are known as The Dragon and Deals Gap. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, there have been a number of traffic incidents involving large trucks.

The section of highway known as The Dragon is a favorite of motorcycle and car enthusiasts, providing 11 miles of smooth pavement and 318 curves.

The road is tight enough that bigger semi trucks have to split both lanes to make some of the turns. Even the most careful of drivers and riders have been surprised when they come around a blind corner to find a Mack truck grille headed their way.

According to the Tennessee DOT press release, there were a total of 204 crashes from 2010 to 2012 in Blount County–which is where the Tail is–six of those resulted in fatalities. Only one of those involved a tractor trailer, but many of the other incidents with the big rigs have blocked the narrow highway for hours.

New signs noting the change will be installed in January, according to the Tennessee DOT. Questions can be directed to http://www.tn.gov/tdot.
