Have you ever heard about the Mars Diesel Engine, yeah, produced back in 1942 in Brisbane, Australia? Also at that time considered as twin brother to the Lister engine but totally untrue fact because the Lister engines were breaking the crankshafts under heavy industrial workshop situations!

Mars diesel engines in that time were in front of their competition with better mouse trap (for better handling the start up load) and the oil seals were from the modern type as we still use today, we admit, quite impressive facts.

But let put the history aside, for sure you can find sayings that the Lister engines were better and all that stuff you say, he say etc. This is one of the four engines that still exist today, fully restored in original shape with preserved serial numbers on the restored parts, custom built parts from the original factory specification, custom built foundation from still to remind on the industrial time when it were used, vertical exhaust pipe, gravity 6L fuel thank and 44 gallon cylinder for water cooling!

The engine starts without any problems after the restoration and what’s the impressive fact here it starts with full load startup and it’s only 5hp! Amazing.
