In 2013 Tym Switzer of Switzer Performance and John Shepherd of ShepTrans were jointly able to achieve the best achievement of 8.61 seconds at the ¼ mile test, developing speed output of 170.47 mph (274.34 km/h).
For this purpose, they used Shepherd’s GT-R, on which the tuning specialists two calibrated a new electronic engine control unit Syvecs SGTR. At the same time, they recalculated the record, by their own admission, otherwise being thoroughly prepared for the event: at least inviting an operator with a professional camera. In this way, they apologized for the modest quality of the video published on the web.
It should be noted that the record Nissan GT-R underwent through a complex tuning training. In particular, a completely redesigned ShepTrans set of transmission, turbo kit from AMS, Switzer/Syvecs injection development system, as well as a number of other tuning components in the brakes and the suspension of the car. The appearance in this case is completely in standard form (except for the wheels and the tires), although under the hood it has 1300 hp.
According to the authors of the record, this is not the limit – it needs quite a bit of effort to improve the result, because the potential of the Japanese car is huge and its boundaries have not been achieved in any of the tuning projects.
