Terrible Loss: R.I.P. Simon McKinley! The Legend Of Hill Climbing…

Do you remember this guy, Simon McKinley? He is the man who conquered the hills in Ireland four times, also known by his legendary rally car, 1980 Ford Escort Mk II, his loyal old fellow.

On April 27, during the Clare Motor Club’s Hillclimb at Scalp Hill, Simon McKinley lost his life in a terrible accident. The accident took place at the very end of this event, when almost all drivers finished the course route for the day. About the accident we just know that, McKinley’s car, Lant RT4 went out of the road after a tricky left-right turn and rolled several times.

If you watch it you can notice how skillfully he drives his car and his senses are on the highest level, but sometimes it just happens and doesn’t ask anyone!

He is doing miracles with his legendary 1980 Ford Escort Mk II which delivers 316HP and 235lb-ft of torque, but believe us, this is more than enough power for so skilled driver.
