The Nissan Silvia RPS13, known as the Nissan 240SX in the United States, Nissan 200SX in Europe and the Nissan 180SX in Japan, belongs to the category of most well-known and most used drift cars in the World and on the circuit as well. The Nissan SX200 is known to have excellent weight distribution, RWD, a nice suspension and a limited slip differential. All of these factors make the Nissan SX200 a great drift car for every beginner, but also a ferocious rival during at drifting competition.
It is very common to come across cross-bred cars on a drift track, throughout the pits. These cars are the one ones that combine engines and parts from different car makers. In this particular case we have a car that remained loyal to its family brand, in this case the Nissan brand.
Competing in the King of Europe Sideways Championship, this particular Nissan SX200 has a borrowed twin-turbo VR38DETT V6 engine from the Nissan GTR R35. However, the 550+ hp mark potent from the stock engine wasn’t sufficient to make the car competitive at the European drift circuit. Therefore, the VR38DETT engine was heavily tuned to deliver up the sufficient output of 1,000 horsepower.
The car was driven by the famous drift master from Italy, Francesco Conti. Conti is known for his title as the 2013 champion of the King of Europe drifting championship. His Nissan SX200 Siliva S13 featured in this video is powered by a detuned engine configuration capable to deliver around 800 hp. As you’re about to see, the tricky SX200 just smokes all the other cars in its laps at the Italian Varano de’ Melegari track, even with its ‘detuned’ VR38DETT V6 engine.
So guys, just you sit back and turn the volume loud and check out the footage below to get a clearer idea of the drifting insanity that this Nissan 200SX cars is capable to do.
