The turbocharger is very important part of the car, of the engine to be precise and without one, you will be doomed of failure. The turbocharger has the role of compressing the air and sending the compressed air into the engine to make a mixture with the petrol and then burned inside.
This compressed mixture gives far more power when fired than the normal mixture, and that’s why the car makers are going for bigger chargers for the engines. When the engine reaches about two thousand RPM, the turbo charger kicks in and there you go, extra power delivered on the wheels.
Now if you don’t shift the gear into higher one, like from second to third gear, and you give full throttle to the engine, there will be a flutter sound made from the turbo. This flutter sound is because you are not releasing the throttle and the air doesn’t have where to go, the engine has reached the maximum RPM. Then the turbo starts to slow down, and the sound comes, called flutter.
This is not very healthy for the turbine, and must be avoided as much as possible, to avoid further problems.
