M4 had the same chassis as the M3. However, apart from the earliest versions the truck suspension was modified, support rollers were mounted behind and in the middle. The body could be welded, cast or welded to the front part of the collected cast and rolled parts, while the 75 mm gun was mounted in a simple cast turret and equipped with a gyroscopic stabilizer, as a tank M3. Originally the tank was equipped with radial Continental air-cooled engine, but their constant shortage (they were used in the aircraft industry) caused to be applied different variants of power plants, which increased the number of serial modifications. M4 Sherman had a crew of 5 people and could fire armor-piercing shells.
