While many were still riding on horses back in the beginning of the 20th century the engineering genius didn’t sleep at all, completely the opposite, the great mind Alexandre Darracq made the first appear in the auto world with his first ever made car, in 1900 powered by 785cc engine with 6.5HP.
But as we said, many were still on the horses and the car didn’t get the expected fame. So, many would quit at the very moment but Alexandre didn’t quit at all, he teamed up with Adam Opel and in 1903 their engines starting from 1.1-liter to 3.8-liter 4-cylinders hit the market and got what the company deserved before three years. The business expanded even more resulting with entrance on the UK market with the newly developed almighty V8 beast with 25.4-liter displacement producing 200HP in 1905!
This is the moment when everything changed, the beast broke all the records and on the public roads it clocked 109mph, but when it was shipped in the USA the engine released the best of it, hitting speed at 122.5mph.
Today, after 109 years the history is coming again on big door together with the almighty beast at Goodwood Festival of Speed! Just play the video below and see the old rig drifting on the track!
