Maybe it has the name Shelby by its ancestor, but this model is creation of Ford’s SVT team.  So why then the Shelby name is given to this model? Some rumors say, on that way Ford can charge more!

The 2016 Shelby uses the same platform as the 2015 Mustang, and about the performance we think that Ford wanted to master its GT500 engine, but still nothing official about the exact power numbers.  We expect the heart of this mighty beast to be 5.2-liter DOHC V8 producing more than 500 hp @ 8000 rpm with manual transmission and more than 400 lb-ft of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 4 seconds, so tell us what you think, we are guessing right or we are not even closer?

And also another great novelty from Ford Racing, they removed the exhaust resonators on the Shelby GT350R and that means you will enjoy in a pure adrenaline sound.
