Is The Premium Fuel WORTH THE TROUBLE? Five Vehicles Tested To See If Premium Gas ACTUALLY PERFORMS BETTER!!!

Premium fuel versus the regular fuel is taking part here and we are going to find out is the premium worth over the regular one. Or is this another myth created by the oil companies just to make extra buck for the same fuel? There are 5 vehicles that are going to be tested on the different fuels and we are going to find out which ones are going to show difference, and which ones just don’t care on which fuel they are running on. Some of the engines just don’t need the modern premium fuel to power those wheels, and some of them are more comfortable with it, giving more power than usual.

Out of the five vehicles that have been used in the test there are one European made, one American made and three Asian vehicles as well. These five manufacturers are all recommending to use the premium fuel as the best performance can be achieved with it. There are different technologies on the engines as well. There are two and they are the direct injection engines and the turbo charged ones as well.

Gaining nearly 4% in the acceleration the European and the American made vehicles have their benefits from the premium fuel used. But this is not the case with the Asian cars which didn’t have the direct injection or the turbocharger on the engine. So they were straight inline engines with the common diesel fuel pump on them and they didn’t take any advantage of the different fuel used on them. There is slightly improved stats on the 2.4 liter Asian engine with the 3% jump at the stats but the other two had less or no advantage at all. So the next time when you think about the premium or the regular fuel, remember of this study.

Maybe because our european standard 95 is a premium fuel in US?

Actually the premium fuel has 97 octane rating, while the “EuroSuper” or “EuroPremium” or “Regular unleaded” in Europe has 95 octane rating.

Best way is to test for yourself..
Just drive like you normally do…
If you are wanting to know if it helps performance.
Check with your local drag strip. Many of them have Friday night street legal where you can test your cars performance in 1/4 mile.
Still do all the steps below except the last fill should be premium, and then head out to the track and compare times with your first race..

    Fill with regular
Drive vehicle until low fuel light comes on
Fill with premium (calculate fuel economy from regular)
Drive vehicle until low fuel light comes on
Fill with Premium (calculate fuel economy of mostly premium fuel)
Drive vehicle until low fuel light comes on
    Fill with premium
Drive vehicle until low fuel light comes on
Fill vehicle with either Premium or regular, (calculate your Premium fuel economy)
