On Kickstarter appeared a project that is sure to interest fans of the movie “Back to the Future” and not only them. We are talking about a prototype hoverboard -- flying board, which was called Hendo and really allows you to hover above the ground. The principle of operation of the device is based on the Earnshaw theorem and Lenz’s Law, describing the properties of magnetic fields. Thus, you can fly on Hendo only on a special coating.
However, the device can be called the first working prototype that implements exactly the opportunity that fans of the film dream about. In just a day, since the start, the project has collected nearly $ 200,000, despite the fact that the developers Greg and Jill Henderson are not yet ready to offer the present vehicle.
The price of the hoverboard at this stage is 300 dollars, i.e. it is a developer kit that contains everything needed for making a hoverboard and a platform that is suitable for floating which supporters who can then assemble into functional beta devices.

300$?? when is it on production!!
Its junk lmao 4 high torq fans that are screaming under load. Keep trying boys this is junk.
Lets read before we make assumptions on how something works and bashing someones work for it, hmm? “The principle of operation of the device is based on the Earnshaw theorem and Lenz’s Law, describing the properties of magnetic fields. Thus, you can fly on Hendo only on a special coating.” They aren’t fans, they are electromagnets that act against the coating on the ground. Throw your brain in the trash, it’s junk.
My thoughts!
lol someone is a hater. this is in development. before you call other people’s work junk, let’s see your own.
Yea if any thing this guys work will be junk
Everyone has absolute right to build and create whatever he or she wants. All that’s matter is developing your skills and intelligence. 🙂
You do understand what magnetic levitation is, right? Also, you spelled torque wrong, dumbass.
John, its using magnetic fields and a special coating to fly on, the fans you hear are not “screaming under load” it’s how air flow works when constricted…. Hence when an air conditioner is on and you open a window in the room only slightly it squeals….Did you even read the caption above about it? Because I don’t think you did….I think your opinions might be junk…
The revolution is here!!!!!
Whats the weight limit of this thing
Looks interesting, but it seems having trouble controlling where it goes….
It looks cool..
But maybe a little height for avoiding humps.. haha.. The real problem now is CONTROL..
Wow, amazing, just think what is now possible when this prototype will be developed to device which would be suitable for other applications. Entertainment is just too obvious, like Wipeout races on special racetracks after attaching a small motor (like that used in gliders), but this could be used also in more serius applications like delivery drones of many types, or even home transport vehicles for paralized people. This can be very useful in so many ways. Basic question is, does it possible to use copper mesh instead of copper plates? If so then it would be a lot cheaper to instal in pavements, and simpler in popularization of this kind of devices. Copper mesh can be easily embedded in asphalt, but it’s even easier to just add tiny copper dust to asphalt. Other option is to use copper paint which could be sprayed on any surface, but question is if it would work with this device? Device development should go in this direction as a first and most important condition for future comercialization.
Back to the future here we come you have to love it
Yes indeed Mike 🙂
Looks cool I darted
Glad you like it Bradleyp 🙂
john you are stupid!!!!!! keep trying bro, your logic is junk
Please no insults Anonymous. Thanks 🙂
This looks rubbish! Good intention with it did work but this is just noisy and uncontrollable and you can only use it on special flooring waste of time! Be bored after 5 mins with it screaming.
thats what your mum said about you!
Please no insults thetruth. Thank you.
I think is cool I remember back to the future ll I want one
Excellent movie Pete! 🙂
This is awesome! Yes, it’s noisy, and you need to use it on a specially coated surface, but its new technology. This is how new technology works. Concept becomes prototype, prototype becomes alpha, alpha becomes beta, beta becomes release version 1.0. Then you get feedback from the general public and improve upon it in version 2.0. This is where the Wright brothers were on flight, now you buy a ticket, get molested by the TSA (jk dont put me on a no fly list plz), hop on a plane and fly at 35,000 ft at 500mph to your destination. I can’t wait to see how this evolves. Take my money!
Totally agree with you Brian. Thanks a lot for sharing your opinion with us. Best regards 🙂
the implications for this are huge, many things start off being noisy such as baby’s etc but as they develop they gradually get quieter and quieter, a few people are being very negative mainly as they have no imagination, if you think you could do better why haven’t you already built your own hover board and demonstrated your prototype!, what these guys have achieved so far is remarkable and the potential for future travel is limitless, imagine this scaled up with that material used to form a road all kinds of vehicles could be developed to use it (obviously with future development and a lot of people interested in investing in the technology it will get quieter), the fact that road networks all over the world are getting worn down quicker as more new and old vehicles hit the streets and road maintenance gets more and more expensive as roads are having to be repaired more frequently, this technology would mean the vehicles would not come in contact with the surface so road maintenance will get a lot cheaper not just for governments but for the people who use the roads every day, just remember how maglev started out, “noisy and slow” now look at it “quiet and very very fast”!
agree with you marty mcfly. Many thanks for your opinion 🙂
I can tweak it for you when the weight is on it you can minimize the high pitch sound 6314345880 if interested call me also I can provide financial backing .
That’s great Harry. Thanks a lot! 🙂
excellent. keep up the great research gents.. all these people that can only think negatively are the kind of people that will never go anywhere. have you all learned nothing from the past? anything is possible if you can dream .
What’s important is to never give up and follow your own intuition 😉
Nice work guys. I am actually looking forward to see the final version. Of course there are things to be addressed before it becomes perfect but this is a great example how people turn a dream comes truth. I wonder the maneuverability of the board, would be great if can imitate the movement of conventional skate board.
We are also looking forward to see the final version of this cool invention Jiun. Glad you like it friend and we hope you will get one for yourself some day 😉
I see the first proper trial being a specially adapted skate (hover) park. Great work guys!
Thanks for the information Simon. Glad you like this product.
Mainly CIA is commenting to discredit this new tech…
you know…..
Haha, yeah maybe they are jealous 🙂 lol
Congrats for the work guys.
I wish it’s coming soon, a years is in my dreams…
I’m brasilian, and wil be glad to receive news and maybe import this product.
Thanks
We’re glad that you like this invention Rafael. Greetings friend! 🙂
Is amazing how people can make a dream from a movie come true, great job. I need one now lol. 🙂
Well said Manny. I bet the hoverboard is a dream of many people. Now it can become a reality 🙂
Wow, I wouldn’t want to be John right now. But I would want to play on that hoverboard!
I hope they will get it produced. I would also like to try it out Adam 🙂
