Small note, the self-repair of your car was a figure of the past as well. Today this is almost a mission impossible. More often than once, you will have to leave the car at the service, on a diagnosis because the possibility to detect the problem is not so easy. The hood acts as a membrane between you and any chance that you will get involved in the review of even possibly the smallest problems. Older cars were extremely easy and even fun to repair, where you could do some repairs by yourself for much less time. The manual plus a good set of tools could have saved you a lot of money.
