From the first driving lesson at the driving school we all learn that we need to be cautious when driving across pedestrian crossing. This include higher awareness about the surroundings and the people who are walking on it. It happened many times unconscious drivers to hit pedestrians on a pedestrian crossing even when there was red light for cars.
Today the smartphones are drawing a lot of attention causing the drivers to be more focused on their phones instead on the traffic lights and signs. It’s a sad fact but we all know how many accidents were caused by now.
Maybe if you are in a hurry, driving fast and even stare at your smartphone you are paying little attention of what is coming in front of you in order to slow or speed up the car. And imagine driving one day, your focus somewhere else and all of a sudden huge concrete blocks in front of you instead of zebra crossing. For sure they will scare you half to dead and make you test the ABS brakes on your vehicle.
But these are not concrete blocks just a 3D painted pedestrian crossing. One is for sure, the pedestrians can feel safer when walking on it but for the people behind the wheels is not so safe. Just imagine one instant braking can cause a massive cars crash meters long.
Even though this is a topic worth for discussion and third party opinions we appreciate those ladies creativity and willingness to change something and increase the pedestrians’ security.
We would love to ask you for your opinion on this and where would be the most appropriate places to put these 3D pedestrian crossing. Maybe on roads and intersections where the maximum speed doesn’t pass 30mph because at higher speed if someone got scared and breaks immediately that could be fatal.
