The Fifth Gear crew made a good episode of how to prevent car wash damage and what causes it the most. They tested three different ways of washing: an automatic car wash, a jet wash and free style hand wash with sponges and detergent.

In order to bring the most accurate results the Fifth Gear crew get three identical car with the same paint and a car wash expert. Only on that way can be seen the side effects from the different washing techniques.

First the three cars are polished with the most expensive car wax and brought to a state where all the stretches are removed.

The test opens the automatic car wash, the second car travels to the jet wash with brush and the last one is going on special treatment, hand wash with sponges. After that all of the cars are parked in hall where they will dry good in order to be accurately inspected for any car wash damage on them. The car wash specialist will inspect them thoroughly with UV light to see what ‘injuries’ each car got from the treatment.
