There is absolutely no doubt that distracted driving is a major problem on the roadways these days. On any given day you can drive around for only a few minutes and you will surely notice drivers who are focused on their cell phones instead of the road ahead. Whether they are writing a message, shooting a selfie, or leaving a comment on Facebook, it seems that nowadays people are having a really hard time putting their cell phone down and actually drive on the streets. Various municipalities across the United States have passed laws which make it illegal to use a cell phone while driving. Still it seems that it is difficult for police officers to prove what the drivers were actually doing, which allows the guilty drivers to challenge the tickets and actually win their case. In the city of Marietta, Georgia, however, the police department has deployed a group of police officers dressed as construction workers to walk up and actually look into the vehicles and verify that those drivers were, in fact, doing illegal activities while seemingly driving. These disguised police officers would then call on the patrol officers via radio who would pull over and give a ticket to the guilty drivers.
Having the police get concrete visual evidence of distracted drivers should make the cases stick and give them a higher rate of successful cases. So, the next time you are driving around town and texting or making the perfect selfie, be sure first that there aren’t any construction workers close by, as these guys could actually be cops in disguise with the intention of busting you, no matter how good your selfie is!
We would like to hear whether you agree with such police practice? Are you happy with the fact that there police officers out in drag disturbing you while you are stopped at the traffic lights and waiting for your navigation application to load up already so that you find out where you have to go?
Comment *well well well…im impressed.
Do you think is the right way to do it George?
