2003 Cadillac CTS
The introduction of the CTS model gave green light to the upcoming transformation of GM. The CTS-V models that followed are world-class performance cars and a huge source of pride for General Motors as well as the automotive industry in the U.S. in general. The CTS sedan model was built on General Motor’s RWD Sigma platform and was offered with a fully independent suspension. This was the first Cadillac model built with a manual gearbox since the Cimarron from 1988. Originally the CTS had a 3.2 liter LA3 V6 engine under its hood but later it was upgraded to a 3.6 liter DOHC V6 engine with variable valve timing. The CTS came initially with either a five-speed 5L40-E automatic transmission or a five-speed Getrag 260 manual gearbox.
