Toyota Supra … Among car enthusiasts and lovers of tuning, this car stands among the legends of the last decade of the last century. The name Supra holds a place of honor in a series of famous automotive names such as Nissan Skyline, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Subaru Impreza WRX STI, as well as other renowned street athletes from the Japanese stable of tuning.
A few years ago, the Japanese manufacturer Toyota released pictures of the new Supra, ie the FT-1 concept. Certainly this new ultra-dynamic design with lines that suggest excellent numbers on the racetrack won the hearts of lovers of Japanese tuned cars.
But we already have more specific information about the driving performance and the premiere of the second generation Toyota Supra. According to speculation, we expect the premiere of the Japanese “Athlete” in 2018 and the same year, probably earlier, will meet its premier the German equivalent of Supra -- BMW Z5.
Both cars are expected to have hybrid drive, petrol engine that drives the rear wheels and an electric motor to charge the front wheels, a similar proportion as in the new BMW i8 and the new Honda NSX.
Realizing the collaboration between Toyota and the Bavarian automaker, the plants of the two new sports, if not supercars will be identical. The latest information says that BMW will take care of the gasoline engine, and while the preferred hybrid charge is Toyota.
Although the powerplant is the same, in 2018 we will face two entirely different cars. BMW Z5 comes as the successor to the current BMW Z4, which means it will be produced only in a convertible -- construction and will look totally different from the new Supra which will be based on the 2014 concept of Toyota -- FT-1.
This concept showed excellent reactions from car enthusiasts and lovers of sports cars which suggests that the new Supra will have a tremendous resemblance (if not identity) in appearance. If this is confirmed, then the Japanese car will be longer than the BMW Z5, because the newly-crafted platform for both cars is adjustable.
