Pickup trucks are considered to be a much safer option if one is involved in an accident. The reason for choosing a truck is obvious since both the driver and passengers sit higher than a regular car whereas the sheer mass behind the truck will most likely keep them safer than some owner of a sedan which is on the other end of the car accident. Probably the worst possible scenario for every vehicle is the small overlap front crash tests. When it comes to pickup trucks, the case is many truckers are incredibly biased toward their brand of choice, sticking loyally by the brand’s side. And you cannot blame them for that, their love for the brand is just stronger than anything!
The F-150 SuperCab, Silverado, Tundra, and Ram are all here to be put to the test in as they get to be driven on a fatal mission to crash. The guys here decided to conduct small overlap front crash tests with 25 % of the truck’s front end on the driver side smashing into a 5-foot-tall immovable barrier at speed of 40 mph. The crash tests get even the toughest pickup trucks to fail under the impact.
Check out the crash tests done this year in the video below as none of these trucks ever stood a chance. One almost gets to the point where there is a feeling of sympathy for the poor dummy behind the steering wheel.
And these are the results of the crash tests. Let’s see how each truck did. It would give us a pretty good image of the reliability of each model. The Ford fans are going to be very pleased, since the F-150 SuperCab is the only truck that received a “Good” rating. All the other trucks got an “Acceptable” or “Marginal” rating since the whole kinetic energy from the crash is supposed to be absorbed by only 25 percent of the front end of the truck.
