We are all using them, either to lower the speed or to stop at the traffic light, but what to we really know about the brake rotors? Well, we know that they are helping us to stop the vehicle when we step on the brake pad, but how to they work and which ones are the best to use? Best to use in order of performance and price too. There are three kinds of brake rotors that can be found on the vehicles and on the market too.

There is the vented brake rotor that is most common on the cars used. So what are these vented rotors doing there and are they really that efficient? With the word vented we have already said too much about these brake rotors. This means that the air can flow through the rotors and the cooling is much better. Long braking will not melt these down and they are more durable too. Two plates and an air gap between them to cool them down. Great engineering trick a?

So what are the drilled rotors that we are talking about? What are these holes doing there anyway? This is an approach that is not used any more. Before in the day with the braking pads of that time the holes were essential for the cooling of the brake rotors with the holes on them, but not anymore. Maybe some of the performance cars are drilling their rotors because they look awesome but the purpose is neglected there.

What about the slotted brake rotors? These are the best looking ones on the market and they have many benefits over the others. With the slots on the rotors the brake pads will stay much cleaner and much cooler too, making it easier to brake and faster too.
