There is a similar combination of English words, like “hot roadster”. Everything is clear: they took “roadster”, the two-seated open-top and subjected it to tuning. The result was “hot”, i.e. (obviously from the dashing ram air). And according to another version, “hot rod” should be translated in English literally and then you get the “hot pin”.
