Muscle Cars 1

As someone once said “There are muscle cars, and then, there are muscled-up sports cars”. 427 Cobra 427 cubic from 1966, with the V8 engine that produces 425 HP is a real beauty which is considered to be ’consummated muscle car ‘, is a proud aesthetic product of Carroll Shelby who have managed to successfully bridged the gap between muscle cars and sports cars and come up with the final creation that will be a completely new kind of machine from this class.

The origins of this sports car are in Great Britain and it is dating from the decade of 60’s. At this period of time, Ford Motor Company had a wish and desire to successfully compete with its Detroit’s competition, more precisely with the Corvette (which was in its pick of popularity in those years), so they came up on the idea to modify the British AC Cobra. In those days, there were 2 different approaches toward the making of sports cars. Vehicles were considerably smaller but very agile and the accent was placed on the acceleration and steering capabilities. On the other hand, these types of cars in the United States were bigger, heavier and with much more power under the hood, that will give the car high performance in a straight line.

So it is probably clear by now that the idea was to combine this two approaches and came up with a sports car that will by a mixture of it. The result was an additional equipment of the Cobra with 427 cubic, 7.0 liter Ford engine that generated amazing 425 horsepower and the top speed of 163 mph. Cobra gain an instant success and attracted customers on the both ends of the Atlantic, becoming one the most popular amongst the muscle cars...CLICK BELOW ON NEXT PAGE to SEE THE NEXT ONE..

The list is a bit one-sided. 6 GM products, 3 Chrysler’s, and 1 Ford. The 6 GM are 3 Corvettes; 2 Chevy’s; and 1 Buick. The 3 Chrysler’s are all Plymouths. And the lonely Ford wasn’t a viable option to the public at the time unless you had the cash for it. Same thing for the Corvettes; those were not easy to obtain for the everyman. The Plymouths were a readily accessible as was the Camaro, Chevelle, and Buick.
