Muscle Cars 4

One of the most spectacular muscle cars, 1970 Hemi Plymouth Barracuda came out from Hamtramck’s assembly in Michigan in the last month of 1969. Famous Cuda came in the world of cars as restoration project (called “better than new”) and during the process of rebuilding got some significant changes. Vehicle’s ’straight as an arrow‘ body, in which solid and firm closing doors on top were included,  was stripped “to the bones” and its constructors made a completely new body shape with perfect surface. Final result was spectacular – a new looking muscle car with flawless combination of refined looks and sharp street appearance.

After the redesigning process in 1970, ‘Cuda became today’s muscle car that we all know way to good. It had a “Plymouth” branded grille on the front, with a bright chrome bumper and head lights above it. On the sides of the ‘Cuda, there is a textured rocker guards with wheel frames and doors are working perfectly nice and smooth giving, simply addressing to every muscle cars aficionados that this is a sports vehicle with perfectly done profile. At the back of the body, there is a nice looking ‘Cuda emblem between the spoilers, new tail lights with kind of a high class, royal look, finished with a bright chrome bumper.

Under the hood of this ’light coupe‘, there is an original 426 or 440 cubic inch HEMI V8 engine with the famous 2468330 casting number as a sign to its authenticity. Chrysler’s engineers also made sure that the car will maximally utilize the cast iron heads, a forged steel crank, forged steel rods and by combining all of that with the aluminum pistons and a hydraulic cam for twisting the ardent 10.25 into 1 compression – all that suited into the 425 HP and 490 pounds feet of torque. The Carter carburetors are there to make sure that the mix of fuel and air are running correctly through the aluminum intake.

1970 Plymouth Barracuda has two version: a standard coupe model and the convertible, both being powered by this rare Hemi engines which nowadays are holding a high price tag amongst the collectors. The ’usual price‘ is going from $ 79 000 to about $ 100 000.

The list is a bit one-sided. 6 GM products, 3 Chrysler’s, and 1 Ford. The 6 GM are 3 Corvettes; 2 Chevy’s; and 1 Buick. The 3 Chrysler’s are all Plymouths. And the lonely Ford wasn’t a viable option to the public at the time unless you had the cash for it. Same thing for the Corvettes; those were not easy to obtain for the everyman. The Plymouths were a readily accessible as was the Camaro, Chevelle, and Buick.
