The green car revolution has arrived and it looks set to pick up more pace as an increasing number of motorists make the switch to eco-friendly automobiles. This is, in part, due to the Government’s clean air plans, but also because so many manufacturers are now focusing their efforts on electric vehicles. Unsurprisingly, one brand that is paving the way is Jaguar with their fantastic I-Pace high-performance automobile.

The Luxury Electric Market

Jaguar is a company synonymous with elegance and class, so it should come as no surprise to learn that the I-Pace is one of the most sophisticated and stylish electric cars around. The all-electric 5-seat performance vehicle has some tough competition with the likes of the Audi E-Tron and the Tesla Model X, but it looks set to come out on top thanks to its superb battery.

Charging Ability

Not a huge amount is currently known about the I-Pace, but it is set to go on display at the Geneva motor show ahead of being available in UK showrooms like Motorpoint this July. One piece of information which has been revealed and will be a key selling point is the fact the I-Pace will be able to charge to 80% of its battery capacity in just 45 minutes from a 100kW charger. In addition to this, it also boasts a range of 310 miles on a fully charged battery.

This rapid charging ability is much faster than the competition and will be a huge appeal to motorists. The lack of charging points and lengthy charging times are two of the main factors which are holding motorists back from making the switch, but the I-Pace will make it much easier for people to plan their journeys and get where they need to go. If other manufacturers want to compete with Jaguar, they too will need to improve their charging times and offer greater ranges so that charging is not an issue.

Performance

As you would expect with the British manufacturer, the I-Pace will also boast a fantastic driving experience. It will be capable of 0-60 in just 4 seconds with 700Nm instant torque and 400PS. Additionally, the all-electric car will feature a trademark luxury interior with a huge amount of space and a bold exterior that is sure to turn heads.

Jaguar’s first all-electric car looks set to be a huge success largely thanks to its rapid charging ability -- this is something that other brands must learn from and could encourage more motorists to make the switch.
