No replacement for displacement, but what that means? The displacement is the total capacity of the cylinders, the bigger the volume the more gasoline can be burned inside the chambers, and that means more power.
But there is great analogy in the video: two lumberjacks, one is bigger and heavier the other is skinnier and weak, but guess what, the skinnier is more efficient and can make more moves per minute and finish the job quicker and with less energy than the heavier. And this analogy implies totally with the new Ecoboost 2.7-liter engine which has higher cylinder pressure providing more power with less displacement.
The previously tested model is 2014 Ford F150 with 5.0-liter V8 engine, 360 hp @5.500 rpm with 380 lb-ft of torque, loaded with 7.000 pounds climbed a half mile mountain track in average 50.1 second, and the newest 2015 Ford F150 with 2.7-liter V6 turbocharged Ecoboost engine (half displacement from the previous model) under the hood which is producing incredible 325 hp with 375 lb-ft of torque climbed the same mountain track in average 44.4 seconds, five seconds faster!
So what does 5 seconds mean? It means the 2015 Ford F150 is doing more with less, less weight, burning less fuel. So the old expression “No replacement for displacement” is fired, it’s out of date, the technology has moved forward. We can literally say the 2015 Ford F150 is setting brand new standards for trucks.
