I know that most of the times when we are talking about Russia and everyday Russians, we have some of those funny videos that make us laugh harder than ever before, and talk about them for days. But every now and then, we come across a drag video that really gives us an adrenaline rush, as we get to see some really cool drag battles between all kinds of vehicles. Now, the time has come to make an article about the latest big thing amongst the Russians, their new favorite choice for drag racing – the Jeep Grand Cherokee. You are about to see how a 1 200 HP SRT8 is taking on highly modified sports cars like the Lamborghini Gallardo, or the Nissan GT-R.
The following video is coming from the ‘Unlimited 500’ drag race series, so it is clear that it is not stock cars that we are dealing here. The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 who is in the main focus, has a 6.4 liter HEMI V8 that is giving an output of astonishing 1 200 HP. However, its opponents on the other side of the lane are equipped with even more terrifying beasts under the hood.
First there is the Godzilla, actually two of them. First one is coming with a monster under the hood that generates 1 800 HP, and the second one of the GTR R35s is a little bit more modest, with ‘only’ 850 HP motor. Yes, there is a significant horsepower difference, but it is a wild thing to watch a Grand Cherokee out-launching and sweeping off the strip with a highly tuned Nissan GTR.
And when it comes to its supercar opponent, the great Lamborghini Gallardo, it is one of those examples with a ‘typical’ twin turbo norm for a Lambo – 2 000 HP!
One thing that we need to stress about the Grand Cherokee is that this one is not the fastest one out there, not even in Europe alone. But actually, it is not that far from the quickest European model, 1 300 HP SRT8, which is also the 4th fastest in the world. But we also have to take into an account that those numbers are for the SRT8 models, and I’m not sure that they include Cherokee SRT version.
And when it comes down to the runs, the final distance is set at 1 000 meters (0.625 miles), but you can also see the results at the quarter mile distance, as they are shown in the telemetry data, so it will not be all that hard to make one typical American analyzes about it. If you ask me, there is something a little bit strange about the way that second Nissan GTR is launching, as well as the performance in the other two races, but, maybe it is only me. Watch it carefully and do not be shy to share your thoughts with us in the comment section below.
