The competitions take place with judges evaluating the performances depending on various factors such as:
- A proper direction of the car (left / middle / right);
- An angle relative to the vehicle during cornering drift;
- The vehicle speed before, during , and after making a turn;
- The show -- the reaction of the audience is taken into account, the presence of smoke and other effects near a wall, fence and / or other obstacles.
Points are given for each overtaking of the leading competitor, but usually one competitor takes precedence. In the absence of a declared unanimous winner by the judges an additional round is imposed. Sometimes technical faults determine the outcome of the race. If one of the participants (or cars) cannot take part in the drift duel for one reason or another, the other competitor automatically continues to the next round, but needs to realize a self-fulfillment.
It is typical for the audience to demonstrate their desire for another race in the event of a tie or very close representation of both participants, with chanting.
